What Is The Best Type Of Shingle For A Barn Roof?

Choosing the proper shingle type for a barn largely depends on the shape of the roof. For this post, we are focusing on one of the most traditional styles of barn – the gambrel roof.

A gambrel roof is classified by two symmetrical, sloped sides, looking similar to these:

The steep slope of this style provides durability from outdoor elements that the roof is exposed to, and the curved top allows for plenty of storage space in the top floors of the structure.

Asphalt shingles offer up the flexibility needed to keep this type of roof sealed from water the best. There are several other compelling reasons why going with asphalt is a safe choice including durability, cost-effective quality, and color variety.
